Augmented reality checkout assistance

A controller device, comprising:

• with the controller device of a point of sale (POS) system being operationally coupled to an augmented reality (AR) device, with the AR device being configured to be worn, having an optical sensor with a field of view that corresponds to a field of view of the AR device and operable to capture data that represents a sequential image, and having a display device configured to overlay a display of an augmented sequential image in the field of view of the AR device;
• and
• wherein the controller device further comprises a processing circuitry and a memory, with the memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the processing circuitry is configured to:
• send, by the controller device, to the AR device, an indication that includes data that represents an augmented sequential image that includes at least one of a set of visual indicators that indicates at least one of a set of POS checkout statutes of a target object disposed about the POS system, with the display device being operable to overlay the display of the augmented sequential image in the field of view of the AR device so that the at least one of the set of visual indicators can be viewed proximate a position of the target object while the target object is viewable in the field of view of the AR device.

A point of sale (POS) system, comprising:

• an augmented reality (AR) device configured to be worn, having an optical sensor with a field of view that corresponds to a field of view of the AR device and operable to capture data that represents a sequential image, and having a display device configured to overlay a display of an augmented sequential image that can be viewed in the field of view of the AR device;
• and
• a controller device operationally coupled to the AR device and operable to:
• send, by the controller device, to the AR device, an indication that includes at least one of a set of visual indicators that indicates at least one of a set of checkout statuses of a target object disposed about the POS system, with the display device being operable to overlay the display of the augmented sequential image in the field of view of the AR device so that the at least one of the set of visual indicators can be viewed proximate a position of the target object while the target object is viewable in the field of view of the AR device.
