Management of Object MetaData Across Data Sources and Storage Systems

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

• receive, from a client device of a user, a request to alter a target data table stored in a remote data source;
• determine whether the user of the client device has a permission to alter the target data table by verifying access privileges of the user;
• identify a local data table corresponding to the target data table in a local database;
• identify a state of the local data table indicated in a state identifier data structure associated with the local data table;
• responsive to a determination that the user has the permission and the state of the local data table is in an active state, identify whether the target data table corresponding to the local data table exists in the remote data source;
• transmit, to the remote data source, an instruction to alter the target data table in the remote data source;
• and
• responsive to a determination that alterations to the target data table are successfully committed to the remote data source, make alterations to the local data table that match the alterations to the target data table.

A computer system comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to:
• receive, from a client device of a user, a request to alter a target data table stored in a remote data source;
• determine whether the user of the client device has a permission to alter the target data table by verifying access privileges of the user;
• identify a local data table corresponding to the target data table in a local database;
• identify a state of the local data table indicated in a state identifier data structure associated with the local data table;
• responsive to a determination that the user has the permission and the state of the local data table is in an active state, identify whether the target data table corresponding to the local data table exists in the remote data source;
• transmit, to the remote data source, an instruction to alter the target data table in the remote data source;
• and
• responsive to a determination that alterations to the target data table are successfully committed to the remote data source, make alterations to the local data table that match the alterations to the target data table.
