Abstract
Rate limiting in a distributed storage system, including: determining, based on a plurality of node-level usage metrics for a file system received from a plurality of nodes of a distributed storage system, a usage indicator associated with the file system, wherein the usage indicator indicates whether a file system-level usage metric associated with the file system exceeds a rate limit, and wherein the file system-level usage metric is based on the plurality of node-level usage metrics; receiving a storage operation directed to the file system; and processing the storage operation based on the usage indicator.

A method, comprising:
- determining, based on a plurality of node-level usage metrics for a file system received from a plurality of nodes of a distributed storage system, a usage indicator associated with the file system, wherein the usage indicator indicates whether a file system-level usage metric associated with the file system exceeds a rate limit defined with respect to the file system, wherein the file system-level usage metric is based on the plurality of node-level usage metrics, and wherein the plurality of node-level usage metrics are based on storage operations directed to the file system and independent of other storage operations;
- receiving a storage operation directed to the file system;
- and
- processing the storage operation based on the usage indicator.
A system comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processing device, operatively coupled to the memory, the processing device configured to:
- determine, based on a plurality of node-level usage metrics for a file system received from a plurality of nodes of a distributed storage system, a usage indicator associated with the file system, wherein the usage indicator indicates whether a file system-level usage metric associated with the file system exceeds a rate limit defined with respect to the file system, wherein the file system-level usage metric is based on the plurality of node-level usage metrics, and wherein the plurality of node-level usage metrics are based on storage operations directed to the file system and independent of other storage operations;
- receive a storage operation directed to the file system;
- and
- process the storage operation based on the usage indicator.
