A method for calibrating impedance of a first transmit (TX) driver of a first bidirectional serializer/deserializer (SerDes), wherein the first bidirectional SerDes is connected to a second bidirectional SerDes by a data transmission line and the second bidirectional SerDes comprises a second TX driver, wherein the method includes, for each of a plurality of driver impedance code values applied to the first TX driver, receiving at the second SerDes a transmission of a data pattern corresponding to the impedance code value; and measuring at the second SerDes an eye height of a data sequence transmitted by the second SerDes. The method further includes determining which of the measured eye heights comprises a maximum eye height and communicating to the first SerDes from the second SerDes the impedance code value corresponding to the one of the eye heights comprising the maximum eye height for the first TX driver.
A method for calibrating an impedance of a first transmit (TX) driver of a first bidirectional serializer/deserializer (SerDes), wherein the first bidirectional SerDes is connected to a second bidirectional SerDes by a data transmission line, the second bidirectional SerDes comprising a second TX driver, the method comprising:
