Abstract
An indication that the storage system has power is received by a storage device controller of a storage device. A determination as to whether an amount of time that has elapsed since receiving the indication satisfies a threshold is made. In response to determining that the amount of time satisfies the threshold, data is written from the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory using energy stored in an energy storage component of a chassis housing the storage device.
Claims20
A storage system comprising:
- a chassis comprising an energy storage component;
- one or more storage devices housed in the chassis and operatively coupled to the energy storage component, the one or more storage devices comprising volatile memory and non-volatile memory;
- and
- a storage device controller of the one or more storage devices, the storage device controller comprising a processing device configured to:
- receive an indication that the storage system has power;
- determine whether an amount of time that has elapsed since receiving the indication satisfies a threshold;
- and
- in response to determining that the amount of time satisfies the threshold, write data from the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory using energy stored in the energy storage component.
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a storage device controller of a storage device, an indication that the storage system has power;
- determining whether an amount of time that has elapsed since receiving the indication satisfies a threshold;
- and
- in response to determining that the amount of time satisfies the threshold, writing data from the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory using energy stored in an energy storage component of a chassis housing the storage device.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed, cause a processing device of a storage device controller of a storage device to:
- receive, by the storage device controller, an indication that the storage system has power;
- determine whether an amount of time that has elapsed since receiving the indication satisfies a threshold;
- and
- in response to determining that the amount of time satisfies the threshold, write data from the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory using energy stored in an energy storage component of a chassis housing the storage device.
