A recording medium supply device includes: an accommodation portion that accommodates multiple stacked recording media; a restriction unit that comes into contact with a periphery of the recording media accommodated in the accommodation portion to restrict a position of the recording media; an auxiliary restriction unit that is attached to the accommodation portion and comes into contact with a periphery of a recording medium having a size smaller than the recording media restricted by the restriction unit to restrict a position of the recording medium; a blowing unit that blows air onto the periphery of the recording media accommodated in the accommodation portion; a detection unit that acquires optical information indicating a state inside the accommodation portion and detects a periphery of recording media floated by the air from the blowing unit; and a generation unit that uses the optical information acquired by the detection unit to generate information indicating a relationship between a presence or absence of attachment of the auxiliary restriction unit to the accommodation portion and a position of the detection unit in the accommodation portion.
