Abstract

A developing device that is composed of plural constituent members and that causes a developer to adhere to an image holding body holding an image includes a facing member that is disposed as a constituent member to be rotatable at a position facing the image holding body and that includes a magnetic pole acting such that the developer is separated, a second accommodation portion that is provided separately from a first accommodation portion accommodating the developer to be supplied to the facing member, that receives and accommodates the developer separated from the facing member, and in which the accommodated developer is transported as a transport member rotates, and a partition wall that partitions a space between the facing member and the second accommodation portion except a region for reception of the developer separated from the facing member, in which, in a case of being seen in a direction along a rotation axis of the transport member such that the image holding body is positioned to left of the facing member, the rotation axis of the transport member is positioned above or to right of a first virtual line passing through a rotation center of the facing member and the magnetic pole, the transport member rotates in a direction away from the facing member in the region for the reception, and a second virtual line extending in a tangential direction at a position of a left end of the region for the reception does not intersect the facing member.
