Abstract

A wavelength conversion element includes: a wavelength conversion member having a side surface extending in a first direction and a first surface crossing the side surface and disposed at one end in the first direction, and containing a phosphor configured to convert first light having a first wavelength band and incident on the side surface into second light having a second wavelength band different from the first wavelength band; a light transmissive member which has a second surface disposed at one end in the first direction, is disposed at the side surface along the first direction, and is configured to transmit the first light and the second light; and an angle conversion member bonded to the first surface and the second surface, and configured to convert an angle of light emitted from the first surface and the second surface, wherein a refractive index of the light transmissive member is smaller than a refractive index of the wavelength conversion member.
