Optical device with transmission inhibition plateau in blue spectral range

An optical device comprising:

• a polymeric substrate and at least one of:
• (1) one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) one or more reflective thin films, wherein the substrate and the at least one of:
• (1) the one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) the one or more reflective thin films, together produce a spectral transmission of the device;
• the spectral transmission comprises:
• (1) at least one peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, (2) an average transmission over the range from 415 nm to 455 nm that is at least 5% (absolute) lower than the peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, and (3) at least one inhibition band centered between 510 nm and 610 nm;
• the largest Peak Inhibition Percentage of any inhibition band centered between 500 nm and 720 nm is at least 10% (absolute);
• the spectral transmission produces photopic efficiencies of neutralizations, comprising Ev,WPS,DP, Ev,WPS,SP, Ev,YLDP, Ev,Y,SP, per illuminant;
• and
• for at least three separately-lit illuminants selected from the set of illuminants of CIE F2, CIE F7, CIE F11, CIE A, CIE D65, LED-3000K, LED-4000K and LED-5000K, three or more photopic efficiencies of neutralizations are each between 0.3 and 2.

An optical device comprising:

• a polymeric substrate and at least one of:
• (1) one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) one or more reflective thin films, wherein the substrate and the at least one of:
• (1) the one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) the one or more reflective thin films, together produce a spectral transmission of the device, wherein the spectral transmission comprises:
• (1) at least one peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, (2) an average transmission over the range from 415 nm to 455 nm that is at least 5% lower than the peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, and (3) at least one inhibition band centered between 510 nm and 610 nm;
• for all inhibition bands centered between 510 nm and 610 nm, each having a Width-To-Peak ratio of at least 1.0;
• and
• for the set of all separately-lit illuminants of CIE F2, CIE F7, CIE F11, CIE A, CIE D65, LED-3000K, LED-4000K and LED-5000K, the spectral transmission produces three or more of:
• (1) the range of single-pass white point shifts (“WPSs”) is less than 8, (2) the population standard deviation of single-pass WPSs is less than 5, (3) the range of single-pass photopic luminous transmittances is less than 8% (absolute), and (4) the range of single-pass scotopic luminous transmittances is less than 8% (absolute), wherein WPSs are calculated using the 1976 L*a*b* color space.

An optical device comprising:

• a polymeric substrate and at least one of:
• (1) one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) one or more reflective thin films, wherein the substrate and the at least one of:
• (1) the one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) the one or more reflective thin films, together produce a spectral transmission of the device:
• the spectral transmission comprises:
• (1) at least one peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, (2) an average transmission over the range from 415 nm to 455 nm that is at least 5% lower than the peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, and (3) at least one inhibition band centered between 510 nm and 610 nm;
• for all inhibition bands centered between 510 nm and 610 nm, each having a Width-To-Peak ratio of at least 1.0;
• and
• for the set of all separately-lit illuminants of CIE F2, CIE F7, CIE F11, CIE A, CIE D65, LED-3000K, LED-4000K and LED-5000K, the spectral transmission produces three or more of:
• (1) the range of double-pass white point shifts (“WPSs”) is less than 10, (2) the population standard deviation of double-pass WPSs is less than 6, (3) the range of double-pass photopic luminous transmittances is less than 8% (absolute), and (4) the range of double-pass scotopic luminous transmittances is less than 8% (absolute), wherein WPSs are calculated using the 1976 L*a*b* color space.

An optical device comprising:

• a polymeric substrate and at least one of:
• (1) one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) one or more reflective thin films, the substrate and the at least one of:
• (1) the one or more absorbing dyes, and (2) the one or more reflective thin films, together produce a spectral transmission of the device;
• the spectral transmission comprises:
• (1) at least one peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, (2) an average transmission over the range from 415 nm to 455 nm that is at least 5% lower than the peak transmission in the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, and (3) at least one inhibition band centered between 510 nm and 610 nm;
• for all inhibition bands centered between 510 nm and 610 nm, each having a Width-To-Peak ratio of at least 1.0;
• the spectral transmission further comprises at least one pass-band between 460 nm and 720 nm;
• FWHM of the at least one inhibition band is at least 8 nm and at most 100 nm;
• and FW80M of the at least one inhibition band is at least 5 nm and at most 80 nm.
