Patch Panel With Configurable Port Groups

A patch panel, comprising:

• a first sidewall;
• a second sidewall;
• a plurality of layers extending along a width dimension of the patch panel from the first sidewall to the second sidewall, being attached to the first sidewall and the second sidewall, and extending along a depth dimension of the patch panel, such that the layers define one or more horizontal openings of the patch panel with each horizontal opening having no vertical support other than the first sidewall and second sidewall, at least one of the layers including one or more rails extending along the depth dimension, and the rails being configured for attaching to respective patch panel components;
• and
• one or more cassettes attached to respective ones of the rails, each cassette comprising a body, a plurality of front port assemblies, and one or more rear accesses, one or more of the front port assemblies being communicatively coupled to one or more of the rear accesses.
