Abstract

A system for determining the free floor area of a loading zone. The system includes drive means, communication means, processing means and a moving beam on which height sensors are arranged that are directed towards the floor of the loading zone at normal incidence and aligned with one another at a constant height from said floor. The moving beam being designed so as to extend in a first direction above the loading zone and being configured so as to move over the loading zone when driven by the drive means in a second direction. The processing means being configured to determine the free floor area of the loading zone according to the data received from the height sensors via the communication means.
