Abstract

A localization system and a localization method for localizing a wireless communication device of a vehicle, including at least two anchors respectively arranged in different positions of the vehicle, each of the at least two anchors includes a plurality of directional antennas arranged in a predetermined polygonal configuration, the plurality of directional antennas of the at least two anchors are configured to radiate and receive electromagnetic signals over 360 degrees and localize the wireless communication device of the vehicle; at least one directional antenna of the plurality of directional antennas are configured to detect a distance between the directional antenna and the wireless communication device; and a processor configured to calculate a position of the wireless communication device based on the distance between the directional antenna and the wireless communication device.

Dependent claims

A localization system for localizing a wireless communication device of a vehicle, the localization system comprising:

at least two anchors respectively arranged at different positions of the vehicle, each of the at least two anchors comprising a plurality of directional antennas arranged in a predetermined polygonal configuration;
wherein the plurality of directional antennas of the at least two anchors are configured to radiate and receive signals over 360 degrees and localize the wireless communication device of the vehicle;
and
a processor configured to:
receive the signals from the wireless communication device via at least one directional antenna of the plurality of directional antennas;
determine a distance between the at least one directional antenna of the plurality of directional antennas and the wireless communication device;
and
calculate a position of the wireless communication device based on the determined distance.
