Abstract
A charge protocol inspection apparatus including an information obtaining unit is configured to obtain information about a charge protocol of a battery cell, an open circuit voltage (OCV) corresponding to a state of charge (SoC) of the battery cell, and a reference internal resistance of the battery cell, calculate an internal resistance of the battery cell during charge based on the information about the charge protocol and the OCV corresponding to the SoC of the battery cell, and compare the reference internal resistance of the battery cell with the internal resistance of the battery cell during charge.
Claims20
A charge protocol inspection apparatus comprising:
- memory storing instructions;
- and
- one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to:
- charge a battery cell at a predetermined first C-rate;
- derive charging characteristics of the battery cell at a plurality of states of charge (SOCs) of the battery cell during the charging at the first C-rate;
- receive a charging protocol at a second C-rate higher than the first C-rate;
- for each SOC of the plurality of SOCs, calculate a projected internal resistance of the battery cell during the charging protocol at the second C-rate based on the derived charging characteristics of the battery cell;
- and
- determine a suitability of the charging protocol at the second C-rate based on the projected internal resistances of the battery cell.
A charge protocol inspection method comprising:
- charging, by one or more processors, a battery cell at a predetermined first C-rate;
- deriving, by the one or more processors, charging characteristics of the battery cell at a plurality of states of charge (SOCs) of the battery cell during the charging at the first C-rate;
- receiving, by the one or more processors, a charging protocol at a second C-rate higher than the first C-rate;
- for each SOC of the plurality of SOCs, calculating, by the one or more processors, a projected internal resistance of the battery cell during the charging protocol at the second C-rate based on the derived charging characteristics of the battery cell;
- and
- determining, by the one or more processors, a suitability of the charging protocol at the second C-rate based on the projected internal resistances of the battery cell.
