Abstract
A novel method for measuring S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase enzyme activity. In one aspect, this method includes: (1) a step of mixing: a protein having S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase activity, S-adenosylmethionine, a methyl acceptor, S-adenosylhomocysteine deaminase, and (2) a step of measuring amounts of a substrate and/or a product of the S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase activity.

A method for measuring methyltransferase enzyme activity,
- wherein the method comprises:
- (1) a step of mixing:
- a protein having S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase activity,
- S-adenosylmethionine,
- a methyl acceptor,
- S-adenosylhomocysteine deaminase, and
- (2) a step of measuring amounts of a substrate and/or a product of the S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase activity.
