Abstract
Provided is a fire control mechanism for a semi-automatic firearm having a reciprocating action that includes a trigger member with a trigger bow and a safety selector configured to move between a safe position and a forced reset position. When the safety selector is in the forced reset position, a rearward motion of the reciprocating action causes the trigger member to be reset against rearward pressure applied to the trigger bow, the safety selector is configured to prevent actuation of the trigger member during at least a portion of movement of the reciprocating action, and the trigger member can be actuated when the reciprocating action returns to a forward position
Claims20
A fire control mechanism for a semi-automatic firearm having a reciprocating action, comprising:
- a trigger member comprising a trigger bow;
- and
- a safety selector configured to move between at least a safe position and a forced reset position,
- wherein, when the safety selector is in the forced reset position:
- a rearward motion of the reciprocating action causes the trigger member to be reset against rearward pressure applied to the trigger bow,
- the safety selector is configured to prevent actuation of the trigger member during at least a portion of movement of the reciprocating action, and
- the trigger member can be actuated when the reciprocating action returns to a forward position.
A fire control mechanism for a semi-automatic firearm having a reciprocating action, comprising:
- a trigger member comprising a trigger bow;
- a safety selector configured to move between at least a first position and a second position;
- wherein, when the safety selector is in the second position, the fire control mechanism is configured such that, during movement of the reciprocating action initiated by a first actuation of the trigger member:
- a rearward motion of the reciprocating action causes the trigger member to be reset against rearward pressure applied to the trigger bow, and
- a second actuation of the trigger member is prevented by mechanical interference with the safety selector;
- and
- wherein the second actuation of the trigger member is permitted when the reciprocating action returns to a forward position.
A method of operating a fire control mechanism in a semi-automatic firearm, the semi-automatic firearm having a reciprocating action, a trigger member comprising a trigger bow, and a safety selector configured to move between at least a first position and a second position, comprising:
- when the safety selector is in the second position:
- applying rearward pressure to the trigger bow to actuate the trigger member to initiate the reciprocating action;
- transmitting mechanical force derived from a rearward motion of the reciprocating action to reset the trigger member against the rearward pressure applied to the trigger bow;
- establishing a mechanical interference utilizing the safety selector to prevent actuation of the trigger member during at least a portion of movement of the reciprocating action;
- disengaging the mechanical interference during a forward motion of the reciprocating action as the reciprocating action returns to a forward position;
- and
- upon disengaging the mechanical interference, allowing the trigger member to be actuated when the rearward pressure is applied to the trigger bow.
A fire control mechanism for a firearm having a reciprocating action, comprising:
- a trigger member comprising a trigger bow;
- and
- a safety selector configured to move between at least a first position and a second position, wherein, when the safety selector is in the second position and during a rearward motion of the reciprocating action that resets the trigger member against rearward pressure applied to the trigger bow, the safety selector prevents actuation of the trigger member until the reciprocating action returns to a forward position.
