Abstract
A valve seat for a high-pressure reciprocating pump having a metal body extending about a central axis and defining a central flow bore where the metal body provides an upper seating surface configured to sealingly engage a reciprocating valve member and a lower mounting portion configured to be removably received within a pump bore.
Claims10
A valve seat for a high-pressure reciprocating pump comprising:
- a metal body extending about a central axis and defining a central flow bore the metal body providing an upper seating surface configured to sealingly engage a reciprocating valve member and a lower mounting portion configured to be removably received within a pump bore.
A valve seat assembly comprising:
- a support body configured for removable installation within a pump bore;
- and
- a through-hardened annular insert coupled to the support body and defining a valve seating surface configured to sealingly engage a reciprocating valve member.
A method of making a valve seat for a high-pressure reciprocating pump comprising:
- providing a metal body that is a high carbon alloy steel having a carbon content percentage of greater than 0.6 percent by weight and a chromium content percentage greater than 0.7 percent by weight;
- wherein the metal body comprises a central flow bore, an upper seating surface, and a lower mounting portion;
- and
- heat treating the metal body through austempering to through-harden at least a portion of the metal body.
