Abstract
Embodiments of the invention relate to methods, systems, and software for identifying and quantifying subsurface hydrogen, helium, carbon dioxide, or other fluids using multiple indicia from geophysical well logs, other wireline logging tools, or mudlogging tools.
Claims20
A method for verifying storage of hydrogen in a subsurface reservoir, the method comprising:
- automatically analyzing, with an image recognition module, geophysical log images for patterns characteristic of subsurface hydrogen accumulation to identify accumulations of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir;
- determining, from the analyzing of the geophysical log images, an amount of hydrogen in the accumulation of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir;
- and
- outputting, by communications hardware, an indication of the amount of hydrogen in the accumulation of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir.
A system for verifying storage of hydrogen in a subsurface reservoir, the system comprising:
- an image recognition module configured to:
- automatically analyze geophysical log images or borehole images for patterns characteristic of subsurface hydrogen accumulation to identify accumulations of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir, and
- determine, from analyzing the geophysical log images or the borehole images, an amount of hydrogen in the accumulation of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir;
- and
- communications hardware configured to:
- output an indication of the amount of hydrogen in the accumulation of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir.
A computer program product for verifying storage of hydrogen in a subsurface reservoir, the computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing software instructions that, when executed, cause an apparatus to:
- automatically analyze geophysical log images or borehole images for patterns characteristic of subsurface hydrogen accumulation to identify accumulations of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir;
- determine, from analyzing the geophysical log images or the borehole images, an amount of hydrogen in the accumulation of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir;
- and
- output an indication of the amount of hydrogen in the accumulation of hydrogen in the subsurface reservoir.
