Apparatus and method for attaching downhole device to cable

A method of attaching downhole devices to a cable, the method comprising:

• placing a cable attachment apparatus on a pipe at an opening of the pipe such that a rotation of the cable attachment apparatus relative to the pipe is restricted, wherein the cable attachment apparatus comprises a base and a socket and wherein the socket extends from the base;
• placing a downhole device around the cable, wherein the downhole device comprises a first component and a second component;
• placing the first component in a cavity of the socket, wherein the socket is shaped to restrict the first component from rotating in the cavity of the socket;
• and
• turning, after the first component is placed in the cavity of the socket, the second component relative to the first component such that the downhole device is securely attached to the cable, wherein the first component is restricted by the socket from rotating along with the first component.
