Abstract
Systems and methods are disclosed that include providing a retractable roof for an athletic facility. The retractable roof is controlled by an associated control system that includes a controller to receive or retrieve a control parameter to determine based on a comparison whether the retractable roof should be opened or closed. Control parameters may weather forecasts and real-time weather data, activity schedules, and conditions within the facility. A controller may create a schedule for selectively opening and closing the retractable roof with a goal of maximizing sunlight exposure into the facility through the opened retractable roof. Weather data used may include temperature, humidity, wind speed, precipitation, air quality index, UV index, pollen count, and combinations thereof.
Claims23
An athletic facility, comprising:
- a structure;
- a roof coupled to the structure and wherein at least a portion of the roof is a retractable roof configured to be moveable between an open position and a closed position;
- and
- a control system comprising a controller configured send signals to selectively move the retractable roof between the open position and the closed position based a control parameter, wherein the control parameter comprises weather data for an exterior area around the athletic facility.
