Abstract
An electric driveline fluid is described. The fluid includes a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity; an electric driveline additive that includes glycerol, glycol, glycol ether, pentaerythritol, vicinal diol, triol, or a derivative thereof; and at least one overbased sulfonate detergent. The amount of the electric driveline additive is from about 0.001 wt. % to about 1.5 wt. % based on the total weight of the electric driveline fluid.
Claims14
An electric driveline fluid comprising:
- (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity;
- (b) an electric driveline additive comprising glycerol, glycol, glycol ether, pentaerythritol, vicinal diol, triol, or a derivative thereof;
- and
- (c) at least one overbased sulfonate detergent;
- wherein the amount of the electric driveline additive is from about 0.001 wt. % to about 1.5 wt. % based on the total weight of the electric driveline fluid.
A method of improving the wear, friction, or fatigue performance of an engine featuring an electric driveline, the method comprising lubricating the engine with an electric driveline fluid comprising:
- (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity;
- (b) an electric driveline additive comprising glycerol, glycol, glycol ether, pentaerythritol, vicinal diol, triol, or a derivative thereof;
- and
- (c) at least one overbased sulfonate detergent;
- wherein the amount of the electric driveline additive is from about 0.001 wt. % to about 1.5 wt. % based on the total weight of the electric driveline fluid.
