Process for preparing benzgalantamine and salts thereof

Abstract

A process for preparing benzgalantamine comprising the addition of a benzoyl halide to galantamine. The process comprising additionally the formation of a salt of benzgalantamine subsequent to the preparation of benzgalantamine. The disclosure further relates to a composition comprising or consisting of a reaction product prepared by the process according to the present invention. The disclosure further relates to the composition comprising one or more specific impurities, preferably at negligible amounts. The disclosure further relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the composition together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
