Abstract
The present invention relates to biobased alkyl, alkenyl, or alkynyl glyceryl ether compounds and compositions and formulations comprising same, processes for preparing the inventive biobased compounds, as well as applications thereof including the use of the inventive compounds and compositions in formulations of products or components of products.

A branched alkyl glyceryl ether composition comprising:
- (a) 3-[(1-methylheptyl)oxy]-1,2-propanediol in a concentration of 95 wt % or greater, based on total weight of the composition, wherein 3-[(1-methylheptyl)oxy]-1,2-propanediol is according to structure (I-i):
- (b) optionally, one or more compounds of Formula (I) in a concentration of less than 5 wt %, based on total weight of the composition,
- wherein R1 is a branched C8 alkyl and n is 1-3, and wherein the one or more compounds of Formula (I) is not 3-[(1-methylheptyl)oxy]-1,2-propanediol;
- and
- (c) optionally, at least one other ingredient.
