Cleaning device

A cleaning robot, comprising:

• a body;
• a traveling mechanism disposed at a side portion of the body and comprising a cover plate, the traveling mechanism being configured to drive the cleaning robot to travel along a first direction on a wall of a pool, wherein the cover plate is provided with an opening;
• a flow channel in fluid communication with an environment external to the body through the opening;
• and
• a propulsion assembly configured to eject liquid from the flow channel through the opening in a direction away from the body, so as to apply to the cleaning robot a thrust directed substantially along a second direction, the second direction being different from the first direction.

A method of operating a cleaning robot,

• the cleaning robot comprising:
• a body;
• a traveling mechanism disposed at least partially at a side portion of the body and comprising a cover plate, wherein the cover plate is provided with an opening;
• a flow channel in fluid communication with an environment external to the body through the opening;
• and
• a propulsion assembly configured to eject liquid from the flow channel through the opening in a direction away from the body;
• and
• the method comprising:
• operating at least one of the traveling mechanism or the propulsion assembly, thereby causing the cleaning robot to perform a movement in a pool or on a wall of the pool.
