A process for the preparation of a mixture of phosphate and sulfate products and/or a process for the production of phosphoric acid and its products. The process comprises reacting a phosphorus containing material with sulfuric acid in the absence of a solvent to form a reaction mixture comprising phosphoric acid, remaining sulfuric acid and residual material. The produced phosphoric acid and remaining sulfuric acid are separated from the residual material by adding ethanol, thereby forming a slurry of ethanol and solid residual material. The solid residual material is separated from the ethanol slurry and the acids with ammonia are reacted to produce ammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate which are then separated from the ethanol; and/or the acids are separated from the ethanol to produce phosphoric acid and sulfate products, and the separated ethanol is recycled for use in the process.
Process for the preparation of a mixture of phosphate and sulfate products, comprising:
Product comprising at least 80 wt % of combined ammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate, wherein the ratio of P to S is in the range of from 1:0.5 to 1:2, and at most 20 wt % of iron, aluminum and magnesium salts.
Product comprising at least 80 wt % of combined phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid and/or sulphate, wherein the ratio of P to S is in the range of from 1:0.5 to 1:2, and at most 20 wt % of iron, aluminum and magnesium salts.
