Abstract
A heat exchanger shield for a snowmobile, the heat exchanger comprising an elongated body having a pair of opposing legs, and a pair of engagement structures, one engagement structure formed at a distal end of a corresponding one of the legs, wherein the engagement structures are structured and operable to slidingly engage a corresponding shield retention guide formed in a snowmobile heat exchanger.
Claims20
A snowmobile, comprising:
- a chassis;
- a tunnel coupled to the chassis;
- a prime mover coupled to the chassis;
- a heat exchanger coupled to the tunnel and fluidically connected to the prime mover, wherein the heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body and a plurality of retention guides defining a retention channel, wherein the retention channel extends substantially parallel to a longitudinal centerline of the tunnel;
- a first heat exchanger shield including an elongated body including a pair of opposing legs and a cross-member formed between and connecting the opposing legs;
- and
- a first engagement structure coupled to the first heat exchanger shield and structured and operable to slidingly engage the plurality of retention guides for securing the first heat exchanger shield to the heat exchanger.

A snowmobile, comprising:
- a chassis;
- a tunnel coupled to the chassis;
- a prime mover coupled to the chassis;
- a heat exchanger coupled to the tunnel and fluidically connected to the prime mover, wherein the heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body and retention guides protruding from the heat exchanger body, wherein adjacent retention guides define a retention channel extending substantially parallel to a longitudinal centerline of the tunnel;
- a first heat exchanger shield including an elongated body including a pair of opposing legs and a cross-member formed between and connecting the opposing legs;
- and
- a first engagement structure coupled to the first heat exchanger shield and positioned within the retention channel.

A snowmobile, comprising:
- a chassis;
- a tunnel coupled to the chassis;
- a prime mover coupled to the chassis;
- a heat exchanger coupled to the tunnel and fluidically connected to the prime mover;
- a first shield mount coupled to the tunnel and positioned on an underside of the tunnel, wherein the first shield mount includes an elongated channel that extends substantially parallel to a longitudinal centerline of the tunnel;
- and
- a first heat exchanger shield in contact with the first shield mount, wherein the first heat exchanger shield includes an elongated body including a pair of opposing legs and a cross-member formed between and connecting the opposing legs.
