Convertible cockpit

A recreational vehicle (RV) having living quarters defined therein, the RV comprising:

• a convertible cockpit having a driver position, the convertible cockpit comprising:
• a convertible dashboard configurable to positions, the positions comprising a compressed position and an expanded position, at least a portion of the convertible dashboard being closer in distance on a longitudinal axis to the driver position in the compressed position than in the expanded position;
• and
• a steering wheel apparatus comprising a steering column or a steering wheel, wherein the steering wheel apparatus is movable along a length of a slit portion in between a driving position or a stowing position.

A vehicle comprising:

• a convertible cockpit having a driver position, the convertible cockpit comprising:
• a convertible dashboard configurable to positions, the positions comprising a compressed position and an expanded position, at least a portion of the convertible dashboard being closer in distance on a longitudinal axis to the driver position in the compressed position than in the expanded position;
• a steering wheel apparatus comprising a steering column or a steering wheel, wherein the steering wheel apparatus is movable along a length of a slit portion in between a driving position or a stowing position;
• and
• a drive-by-wire system that couples the steering wheel apparatus to vehicle control components of the vehicle, the drive-by-wire system allowing free movement of the steering wheel apparatus along the slit portion.
