Vehicle control system and method

A method, comprising:

• receiving information associated with a route along which a first vehicle system is configured to travel, the information including data associated with at least one of a plurality of stops along the route or a second vehicle system that is concurrently traversing the route;
• modifying or adjusting an initial pacing trip plan for the first vehicle system based at least in part on the information to create a modified or adjusted pacing trip plan, the modified or adjusted pacing trip plan designating one or more operational settings of the first vehicle system, the modified or adjusted pacing trip plan comprising at least one of:
• slowing of the first vehicle system prior to the first vehicle system arriving at the at least one of a plurality of stops, stoppage of the first vehicle system at one or more of the plurality of stops, reducing an energy consumption of the first vehicle system relative to the initial pacing trip plan;
• and
• controlling operation of the first vehicle system according to the modified or adjusted pacing trip plan.

A system, comprising:

• one or more processors configured to:
• receive information associated with a route along which a first vehicle system is configured to travel, the information including data associated with at least one of a plurality of stops along the route or a second vehicle system that is concurrently traversing the route;
• modifying an initial pacing trip plan for the first vehicle system based at least in part on the information to create a modified pacing trip plan, the modified pacing trip plan designating one or more operational settings of the first vehicle system, the modified pacing trip plan comprising at least one of:
• slowing of the first vehicle system prior to the first vehicle system arriving at the at least one of a plurality of stops, stoppage of the first vehicle system at one or more of the plurality of stops, reducing an energy consumption of the first vehicle system relative to the initial pacing trip plan;
• and
• control operation of the first vehicle system according to the modified pacing trip plan.
