Abstract
A method and apparatus for an EV that receives power from an EVSE, includes receiving, by the EV, identifiable information broadcast from a plurality of EVSEs associated with at least one SECC; selecting, by the EV, one of the plurality of EVSEs as a first EVSE; performing, by the EV, wireless communication association with the first EVSE; performing, by at least one of the EV and the first EVSE, positioning until the EV is at a location capable of being charged from the first EVSE; and performing, by at least one of the EV and the first EVSE, pairing with the first EVSE so that the EV receives power from the first EVSE.
Claims20
A method performed by an electric vehicle communication controller (EVCC), the method comprising:
- obtaining first positioning information from at least one first-type positioning and pairing device (PPD) mounted on an electric vehicle (EV);
- obtaining second positioning information from at least one second-type PPD mounted on the EV, wherein the at least one first-type PPD or the at least one second-type PPD is determined based on one or more of a distance or a relative location from a power reception device of the EV;
- and
- determining whether the power reception device is located within a charging position of a power transmission device of an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) based on the first positioning information and the second positioning information.
A method performed by a supply equipment communication controller (SECC), the method comprising:
- obtaining first positioning information from at least one first-type positioning and pairing device (PPD) associated with an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE);
- obtaining second positioning information from at least one second-type PPD associated with the EVSE, wherein the at least one first-type PPD or the at least one second-type PPD is determined based on one or more of a distance or a relative location from a power transmission device of the EVSE;
- and
- determining whether a power reception device of an electric vehicle (EV) is located within a charging position of the power transmission device based on the first positioning information and the second positioning information.
A method performed by an electric vehicle communication controller (EVCC), the method comprising:
- determining, during positioning between an electric vehicle (EV) and an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), a positioning and pairing device identifier (PPDID) associated with a selected positioning and pairing device (PPD);
- transmitting, to the EVSE, a pairing request message including the PPDID associated with the selected PPD;
- receiving, from the EVSE, a pairing response message including a verified PPDID;
- and
- determining whether pairing between the EV and the EVSE is successful based on the verified PPDID corresponding to the PPDID associated with the selected PPD.
