Abstract
Embodiments relate to a system and method for generating additional heat using an on-board charger. The system comprising the on-board charger and a processor operatively coupled to the on-board charger, wherein the processor is operable to: determine an amount of heat to be generated by the on-board charger, wherein the on-board charger is associated with a vehicle; configure one or more phase legs of the on-board charger to operate as a switch; and control each of the switches associated with the one or more phase legs to generate the determined amount of heat.

A system comprising:
- an on-board charger;
- and
- a processor operatively coupled to the on-board charger, wherein the processor is operable to:
- determine an amount of heat to be generated by the on-board charger, wherein the on-board charger is associated with a vehicle;
- configure one or more phase legs of the on-board charger to operate as a switch;
- and
- control each of the switches associated with the one or more phase legs to generate the determined amount of heat.
A method comprising:
- obtaining a heat requirement of a thermal management system associated with a vehicle;
- determining an amount of heat to be generated by an on-board charger based on the heat requirement, wherein the on-board charger is associated with the vehicle;
- and
- configuring one or more phase legs of the on-board charger to operate as a switch to generate the determined amount of heat.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions executable by a processor to perform operations comprising:
- obtaining a heat requirement of a thermal management system associated with a vehicle;
- determining an amount of heat to be generated by an on-board charger based on the heat requirement, wherein the on-board charger is associated with the vehicle;
- and
- configuring one or more phase legs of the on-board charger to operate as a switch to generate the determined amount of heat.
