A The packing table that three dimensionally shaped material layup surface having a shape that corresponds to an inner contour of respective joining interfaces of the blade sections to be joined and has a center plane oriented normally with respect to a longitudinal axis of the wind turbine blade is provided, wherein an axial position of the center plane corresponds to a center of the joining zone. The shape of an inboard portion of the material layup surface corresponds with an inner contour of the joining interface of the inboard blade section and the shape of an outboard portion of the material layup surface corresponds with an inner contour of the joining interface of the outboard blade section. A packing table provided for a process optimization in the manufacturing of a joining adapter and thus facilitates the joining of blade sections of longitudinally split wind turbine blades.
