A gripper for moving piece goods, comprising:
- a deposit table extending in a first horizontal direction and a second horizontal direction orthogonal to the first horizontal direction, with at least one storage and retrieval end face extending in the second horizontal direction;
- a gripping assembly arranged above the deposit table and movable in the first horizontal direction, the gripping assembly comprising:
- a deflection device;
- a first guide portion extending in the first horizontal direction;
- a second guide portion;
- and,
- a unilaterally flexible chain which interacts with the deflection device.
A method for moving piece goods onto a gripper, the method comprising:
- moving the gripper toward a storage surface;
- moving a first gripping assembly in a first horizontal direction next to a piece good on the storage surface;
- moving a stretched portion of a unilaterally flexible chain behind the piece good;
- moving a second gripping assembly in the first horizontal direction toward the storage surface so that the piece good is arranged between the first and second gripping assemblies;
- connecting an end of the unilaterally flexible chain to a receiving device of the second gripping assembly;
- and
- moving the first and second gripping assemblies in the first horizontal direction toward a deposit table of the gripper so that the piece good is pushed onto the deposit table.
