Abstract
The flexible line deconstruction unit that includes: a flexible line section feeder comprising an axial feeding and guiding system having a flexible line section feeding axis, the axial feeding and guiding system being configured to receive a flexible line section with the flexible line section longitudinal axis aligned with the feeding axis, the flexible line section feeder comprising a flexible line section driver, configured to move the flexible line section along the feeding axis; and an axial cutting tool, positioned in the axial feeding and guiding system to cut an axial split in the flexible line section along the feeding axis.
Claims18
A flexible line deconstruction unit comprising:
- a flexible line section feeder comprising an axial feeding guide having a flexible line section feeding axis, the axial feeding guide being configured to receive a flexible line section with the flexible line section longitudinal axis aligned with the feeding axis, the flexible line section feeder comprising a flexible line section driver, configured to move the flexible line section along the feeding axis;
- and
- an axial cutting tool, positioned in the axial feeding guide to cut an axial split in the flexible line section along the feeding axis.
A flexible line decommissioning method, comprising the following steps:
- feeding at least one flexible line section in a flexible line section feeder of a flexible line deconstruction unit, the flexible line section feeder comprising an axial feeding guide having a feeding axis, the axial feeding guide receiving the flexible line section, the flexible line section longitudinal axis aligning with the feeding axis;
- powering a flexible line section driver of the flexible line section feeder, to move the flexible line section along the feeding axis;
- cutting an axial split in the flexible line section along the feeding axis with an axial cutting tool of the flexible line deconstruction unit, the axial cutting tool being positioned in the axial feeding guide;
- retrieving a deconstructed flexible line section having a longitudinal split along at least one generatrix.
