A chromatography column comprises a column tube, a column base assembly, a column header assembly and an interface assembly or insert, wherein the tube, header assembly and base assembly define a process chamber for containing a process liquid. The tube comprises an inner surface and an outer surface and the column base assembly comprises a flow cell and an annular flange. The interface assembly is disposed between the flange and the outer surface of tube and is arranged to create a fluid-impermeable barrier between the process chamber and the flange. The interface assembly comprises a material different from at least that of the flange. The interface assembly may comprise a barrier member. The barrier member may comprise or consist of plastics material. The header assembly may comprise an upper flow cell inlet adaptor for introducing a liquid into the process chamber and an inlet liner for lining an inside surface of the upper flow cell inlet adaptor. The inlet liner may be removable from the upper flow cell inlet adaptor, which may comprise metal. The inlet liner may comprise plastics material. Also claimed is a kit of parts for replacing process-wetted components and other disposable parts includes a replacement interface assembly and inlet liner.
A chromatography column comprising:
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the interface assembly comprises an annular barrier member.
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the tube comprises plastics material or glass.
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the base assembly comprises a lower flow cell.
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the base assembly comprises a lower bed support.
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the flange comprises metal material, optionally stainless steel.
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the header assembly comprises an upper flow cell inlet adaptor for introducing a liquid into the process chamber an inlet liner for lining an inside surface of the upper flow cell inlet adaptor.
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the column tube has external diameter in the range of 300-1600 mm, preferably 400-1200 mm, more preferably 450-900 mm and even more preferably 500-800 mm.
A chromatography column according to any preceding claim wherein the column tube comprises a wall thickness in the range of 5-30 mm, preferably 10-25 mm and more preferably 15-25 mm.
A kit of replacement parts for refurbishing a chromatography column wherein the column comprises, in its operational state, a column tube, a column base assembly, a column header assembly and an interface assembly, the tube, base assembly and header assembly defining a process chamber for containing a process liquid, the tube comprises an inner surface and an outer surface, the base assembly comprises a flow cell and an annular flange, the interface assembly is disposed between the flange and the outer surface of the tube and is arranged to create a fluid impermeable barrier between the process chamber and the flange, and an upper flow cell inlet adaptor for introducing a liquid into the process chamber and an inlet liner for lining an inside surface of the upper flow cell inlet adaptor, wherein the interface assembly comprises a material different from at least that of the flange,
