A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a control program for causing a portable game device to perform a process, wherein

• the portable game device executes an electronic game and includes a display screen, a rotation operation portion enabling a rotation operation, and a processor configured to control a progress of the electronic game, and
• the process comprises:
• causing the display screen to display a character and a peripheral region of the character in a virtual region in which the character is present;
• presenting movement of the character by causing the peripheral region to scroll in a predetermined direction;
• and
• presenting a change in a movement direction of the character by rotating the peripheral region in response to the rotation operation on the rotation operation portion.
