Abstract
A golf club head that is capable improving on the inertia properties of a golf club head all while also improving the Center of Gravity (CG) location is disclosed herein. More specifically, the golf club head in accordance with the present invention achieves a relative low Moment of Inertia (MOI) about the Z-axis (MOI-Z), a relatively low MOI about the Shaft-axis (MOI-SA), a low MOI about the Y-axis (MOI-Y) and a high MOI about the X-axis (MOI-X).
Claims15
A golf club head comprising:
- a center portion extending from a frontal portion to a rear edge and comprising a center face portion having a face center, a center crown portion and a center sole portion;
- a toe portion formed from a thermoplastic composite and having a toe mass of 15 g to 25 g, the toe portion extending from the frontal portion and comprising a toe face portion, a toe crown portion and a toe skirt portion;
- a heel portion formed from a thermoplastic composite and having a heel mass of 10 g to 20 g, the heel portion extending from the frontal portion and comprising a heel face portion, a heel crown portion, a hosel receiving aperture and a heel skirt portion;
- the toe portion and the heel portion being coupled to the center portion such that the center portion, the toe portion and the heel portion define a club head volume of greater than about 420 cc;
- at least a crown weight member located on the center crown portion of said golf club head and a sole weight member located on the center sole portion of said golf club head.
