Readable Syringe for Dosage Verification System

Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed that include providing a readable syringe for a dosage verification system. The readable syringe includes a transparent barrel comprising a fluid chamber configured to receive a volume of fluid, a first related component that is a first solid color, and a second related component that is a second solid color opposite of the first solid color. The first related component moves relative to the second related component and is distinguishable from the second related component in a digital image captured by an imaging device to determine a position of the first related component with respect to the second related component. The imaging device utilizes known characteristics of the syringe and the position of the first related component with respect to the second related component in the digital image to accurately determine the volume of fluid in the syringe.
