Abstract
Provided are methods of use of compositions comprising super-oxide dismutase and a soluble fiber for treatment or prevention of disorders. In certain aspects, the compositions can be used for: 1) protection of tight junctions in Human Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells (HBMEC) under hypoxic conditions; 2) reduction of A1C protein levels and fasting glucose in diabetes patients; and 3) reduction of inflammatory markers in acne patients.
Claims28
A method of maintaining tight junctions between cells in a tissue exposed to hypoxic conditions in a subject comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising:
- a) from about 10 units to about 200 units superoxide dismutase;
- and
- b) from about 500 mg to about 8000 mg soluble fiber.
A method of preventing or reducing symptoms associated with a neurological disorder in a subject comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising:
- a) from about 10 units to about 200 units superoxide dismutase;
- and
- b) from about 500 mg to about 8000 mg soluble fiber.
The method of claim 6, wherein the neurological disorder is Parkinson Disease (PD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), or Alzheimer's Disease (AD).
A method of reducing fasting glucose in a subject having diabetes comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising:
- a) from about 10 units to about 200 units superoxide dismutase;
- and
- b) from about 500 mg to about 8000 mg soluble fiber.
A method of reducing hemoglobin A1C level in a subject having diabetes comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising:
- a) from about 10 units to about 200 units superoxide dismutase;
- and
- b) from about 500 mg to about 8000 mg soluble fiber.
A method of reducing acne symptoms in a subject comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising:
- a) from about 10 units to about 200 units superoxide dismutase;
- and
- b) from about 500 mg to about 8000 mg soluble fiber.
