Abstract
The present invention is directed to a mild cleansing or wash composition with more than 12.3% surfactant and that delivers excellent moisturizing sensory attributes. The cleansing composition comprises oil droplets provided in a nanoemulsion. The cleansing composition lathers well and can be formulated with mild surfactants and substantially free of sulfate-based surfactants.
Claims12
An oil-in-water nanoemulsion comprising:
- a) from 1.5 to 8.5% by weight anionic surfactant, the anionic surfactant comprising 100% by weight acyl isethionate or 100% by weight acyl taurate based on total weight of the anionic surfactant, or acyl isethionate, acyl taurate or both and co-anionic surfactant, the co-anionic surfactant making up from 0.01 to 65% by weight of the total weight of anionic surfactant in the nanoemulsion, the co-anionic surfactant not being an acyl isethionate or acyl taurate;
- b) from 0.0 to 5.5% by weight amphoteric surfactant;
- c) from 0.2 to 5.5% of a C8-C18 fatty acid, fatty alcohol, fatty amide, or a mixture thereof;
- d) from 40 to 70% by weight non-hydrogenated oil, or from 40 to 70% by weight of a mixture of non-hydrogenated oil and hydrogenated oil, the mixture comprising no more than 37% by weight hydrogenated oil based on total weight of the mixture of non-hydrogenated and hydrogenated oil;
- e) from 13 to 55% by weight water,
- with the provisos that the nanoemulsion:
- i) has a pH from 5.3 to 7.5;
- ii) is substantially free of at least one of sulfate-based surfactants, phthalates, dioxanes, parabens, hydantoins and isothiazolinones;
- iii) has total surfactant that does not exceed 11.5% by weight surfactant;
- iv) has the oil at a droplet size from 10 to 775 nm;
- v) comprises from 42 to 75% by weight oil;
- and
- vi) has a viscosity from 1,000 to 600,000 mPa-s.
