Abstract
A vial jacket configured to receive a label. The vial jacket includes a plastic material having a cryogenic operating temperature range, a hinge formed in the plastic material, a locking mechanism, and an opening formed in the plastic material. The plastic material is dimensioned to surround at least a portion of a vial. The hinge defines a first half shell having a first edge and a second half shell having a second edge. The locking mechanism is configured to secure the first edge of the first half shell to the second edge of the second half shell. The opening has an axial length and a transverse length.
Claims20
A method of labeling a vial assembly, comprising:
- placing a vial jacket around a vial such that a first half shell of the vial jacket and a second half shell of the vial jacket receive a portion of the vial such that a bottom of the vial is not covered by the vial jacket, wherein the vial jacket comprises a longitudinal hinge formed between the first and second half shells, a lock configured to secure the first and second half shells in a closed configuration, and a viewing window within the first half shell or the second half shell for viewing contents of the vial;
- applying a label to an outer surface of the vial jacket;
- and
- after applying the label, storing the vial assembly at a cryogenic temperature.
