An intramedullary nail system includes an insertion handle for insertion of an intramedullary nail into a medullary canal of a bone and an aiming arm to releasably couplable to the insertion handle. The arm includes a connecting hole and a plurality of openings extending therethrough, the connecting hole configured to slidably receive a distal portion of the insertion handle therethrough. A locking mechanism is configured to lock the arm in a desired orientation relative to the insertion handle and includes a pin movable between a locked configuration, in which a tip thereof extends into the connecting hole and one of the plurality of recesses of the insertion handle to lock the arm in the desired orientation relative to the insertion handle, and an unlocked configuration, in which the tip of the pin does not extend into the connecting hole so that the arm is rotatable thereabout.
