Abstract
A system loads an endoscopic needle into an endoscopic suturing device. The system includes a loading tool having a handle portion configured to be manipulated by a medical professional. The system also includes a needle cover coupling portion configured to removably couple with a needle cover. The needle cover is configured to couple with a delivery housing. The needle cover is further configured to secure a needle within a needle track of the delivery housing when coupled with the delivery housing. The loading tool is configured to couple the needle cover with the delivery housing. The loading tool is further configured to uncouple the needle cover from the delivery housing.
Claims20
A system for loading a needle into an endoscopic suturing device, the system includes:
- a needle cover configured to retain the needle and to secure the needle within a needle track of a delivery housing of the endoscopic suturing device;
- and
- a loading tool removably coupled with the needle cover, the loading tool having a handle portion configured to be manipulated by a user and a needle cover coupling portion configured to removably couple with the needle cover;
- wherein the loading tool and the needle cover are configured so that movement of the loading tool relative to the delivery housing causes the needle cover to secure to the delivery housing, and
- so that movement of the loading tool relative to the delivery housing causes the needle cover to unsecure from the delivery housing.
A needle cover for an endoscopic suturing device, the needle cover includes:
- a body configured to retain a needle and to secure the needle within a needle track of a delivery housing of the endoscopic suturing device;
- a delivery-housing coupling feature configured to removably secure the body to the delivery housing;
- and
- a tool coupling portion configured to removably couple with a loading tool such that movement of the loading tool moves the body relative to the delivery housing.
A method of preparing an endoscopic needle loading system, the method includes:
- coupling a needle to a needle cover, the needle cover being configured to secure the needle within a needle track of a delivery housing of an endoscopic suturing device;
- coupling the needle cover to a loading tool such that the loading tool retains the needle cover in an assembled configuration;
- and
- packaging the needle cover and the loading tool as a unit.
