Abstract
A method for closure of the left atrial appendage (LAA), including: placing an LAA reshaper in contact with an LAA wall or near the LAA wall; invaginating at least a portion of the LAA into the left atrium (LA); reshaping by the LAA reshaper the LAA during the invagination; fastening the invaginated at least a portion of said LAA; and retracting the LAA reshaper from the LAA
Claims20
A method for closure of a left atrial appendage (LA), comprising:
- positioning in an expanded state a vacuum inlet in contact with a left atrium (LA) wall surrounding an opening of a LAA;
- applying by said vacuum inlet, suction from said LA on said LAA through said LAA opening;
- invaginating at least one portion of said LAA into said LA and said vacuum inlet, by said applied suction;
- closing said LAA opening following said invaginating by fastening said invaginated at least one portion of said LAA with a tissue fastener.
1 more element
A device for closure of a left atrial appendage (LAA), comprising:
- a catheter introducible into the left atrium (LA) and comprising a working channel having a distal opening configured to face the LA;
- a suction channel passing through said working channel and terminating with a vacuum inlet extendable from said working channel, wherein said vacuum inlet comprises a distal opening shaped and sized to contact a wall of said LA around a LAA opening, and wherein said vacuum inlet is configured to apply suction via said distal opening on said LAA through said LAA opening with a force sufficient to invaginate at least a portion of said LAA into said LA and into said vacuum inlet;
- at least one tissue fastener extendable into the LA from within said working channel and configured to fasten said invaginated portion of said LAA to close said opening of said LAA.
