Continuous analyte monitoring system with microneedle array

An analyte monitoring device, comprising:

• a wearable housing configured to be worn on skin of a user and comprising a user interface, the user interface comprising a plurality of indicator lights;
• a microneedle array extending from the wearable housing and configured to sense an analyte of the user;
• and
• a processor housed in the wearable housing and configured to:
• selectively illuminate at least one of the plurality of indicator lights with an illumination frequency that corresponds to a level of the sensed analyte, wherein the illumination frequency is a first frequency when the level is within a target range and is a second, higher frequency when the level is out of the target range;
• disable illumination of the user interface for a predetermined period of time and/or in response to a first user action;
• and
• reenable illumination of the user interface after the predetermined period of time and/or in response to a second user action.

A method for operating an analyte monitoring device, the method comprising:

• sensing an analyte using a microneedle extending from a wearable housing of the analyte monitoring device, the wearable housing configured to be worn on skin of a user and comprising a user interface, the user interface comprising a plurality of indicator lights;
• selectively illuminating at least one of the plurality of indicator lights with an illumination frequency that corresponds to a level of the sensed analyte, wherein the illumination frequency is a first frequency when the analyte measurement level is within a target range and is a second, higher frequency when the analyte measurement level is out of the target range;
• disabling illumination of the user interface for a predetermined period of time and/or in response to a first user action;
• and
• reenabling illumination of the user interface after the predetermined period of time and/or in response to a second user action.
