Abstract
A portable identification device for the capture of personal identification information. The portable identification device enables the capture of latent fingerprints. The portable identification device includes a body, a cutting component, and a covering component. The portable identification device can receive and modify identification cards for the capture of personal identification information.

A portable identification device comprising:
- a body;
- at least one cutting component;
- and
- at least one covering component;
- wherein the body is operable to receive an identification card;
- wherein the at least one covering component is operable to distribute a layer of material over the identification card;
- and
- wherein the at least one cutting component is designed to cut the layer of material and/or the identification card.
