Abstract
Intraocular physiological sensor implants include a physiological sensor, and a housing comprising a faceplate. The physiological sensor is integrated with the faceplate. The physiological sensor typically comprises an intraocular pressure sensor, such as a capacitive pressure sensor that may further include a flexible diaphragm electrode spaced apart from a counter electrode. The intraocular pressure sensor detects intraocular pressure, to identify patient conditions such as glaucoma.
Claims20
An intraocular implant comprising:
- a housing comprising a faceplate;
- a physiological sensor integrated with the faceplate, the physiological sensor comprising a flexible diaphragm that forms a unitary body with the faceplate;
- and
- a coil configured to wirelessly communicate with an external reader.

An intraocular implant comprising:
- a housing comprising a faceplate;
- a physiological sensor integrated with the faceplate;
- at least one protruding anchor configured to penetrate a trabecular meshwork, the anchor comprising a fluid pathway including a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, wherein the fluid inlet is configured to reside in an anterior chamber of an eye and the fluid outlet is configured to reside in Schlemm's canal;
- and
- a coil configured to inductively couple with an external reader to receive power and communicate physiological readings.
