Abstract
A method for monitoring pressure of blood in an artery may include contacting a non-invasive sensor of a pressure of blood monitoring device at an area above an artery of a finger, collecting with the sensor one or more pressure data readings, other than readings corresponding to an air pressure reading, from the area after the contacting and after a pressure is exerted at the area on the sensor; and analyzing with a computing device the one or more pressure data readings to generate at least one of a blood pressure reading and a heart pulse reading.
Claims15
A method of monitoring a person's blood pressure status, the method comprising:
- monitoring a pressure of blood in a blood vessel of a finger of the person for oscillations in the pressure of blood in the blood vessel;
- applying a constant setpoint pressure to the finger above the blood vessel, such that oscillations in the pressure of blood in the blood vessel occur unless the constant setpoint pressure is lower than a diastolic blood pressure of the person or higher than a systolic blood pressure of the person;
- and
- in response to detecting a change in oscillations of the pressure of blood, producing an indication about the person's blood pressure status.
A device for monitoring a person's blood pressure status, the device comprising:
- a sensor module configured to apply a constant setpoint pressure to a finger of the person above a blood vessel of the finger and to detect oscillations of pressure of blood in the finger;
- and
- an indicator in communication with the sensor module and configured to produce an indication about the person's blood pressure status in response to detecting a change in oscillations of the pressure of blood.
