Abstract
The present disclosure in general relates to body supporting systems and devices such as mattress, chair, car seat, etc., and their operating methods, and in particular to body supporting systems and devices with adjustable firmness, and related operating methods and firmness adjusting devices.
Claims18
A method for equalizing pressure applied by a body support device to a body, comprising:
- determining, among at least two contact locations between the body and the body support device, a contact location with greatest pressure, and
- adjusting firmness or height or sag of the body support device at the contact location with greatest pressure to reduce pressure at that contact location,
- wherein the adjusting the firmness or height or sag of the body support device at the contact location with greatest pressure to reduce pressure at that contact location comprises reducing contact between the body and the body support device at that contact location or increasing sag of the body support device at that contact location, thereby reducing pressure at that contact location.
A method for transferring a pressure point experienced by a body located on a body support device, comprising:
- determining the pressure point applied by the body support device to the body;
- and
- increasing sag of the body support device at location of the pressure point, thereby transferring the pressure point to a different location.
A method for adjusting the pressure applied by a body support device to a body on the body support device, comprising:
- determining location of a body part of the body on the body support device;
- and
- increasing sag of the body support device in and/or around the location of the body part, thereby decreasing the pressure applied by the body support device to the body part.
A method for stretching at least part of a body, comprising:
- determining, when the body is situating on a body support device, location of the at least part of the body to be stretched;
- and
- adjusting firmness or height or sag of the body support device in and/or around the location of the at least part of the body, thereby stretching the at least part of the body.
A method for adjusting firmness or height or sag of at least a portion of a body support device, comprising:
- automatic adjustment under control of a control unit, of the firmness or height or sag of the at least a portion of the body support device;
- and
- additional manual adjustment under a user's control, of the firmness or height or sag of the at least a portion of the body support device.
