Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a sofa bed having novel features that allow for greater stability and ease of manufacturing. The sofa bed includes a base assembly, articulating mechanism, V-truss constructed seat assembly, V-truss constructed back assembly, and arm rest assemblies. The articulating mechanism is connected to the base assembly. The seat assembly and back assembly are connected to the articulating mechanism. The arm rest assemblies are connected to the base assembly and enclose the articulating mechanism. The articulating mechanism is configured to move the sofa bed from a sofa configuration to a bed configuration and further includes a pivot point that is positioned between the seat assembly and back assembly for converting the sofa bed to the bed configuration.
