Abstract
Examples of an elastic waistband for a lower torso garment are disclosed. The waistband includes a front portion for covering at least a portion of a pelvic area of a wearer, and a back portion for covering at least a portion of a lower back area of the wearer. Each of the front and back portions include an inner fabric layer extending from a top circumferential edge to a bottom circumferential edge of the waistband, an outer fabric layer with a lower edge connected to a lower edge of the inner fabric layer, and an elastic band, with a lower edge of the elastic band connected to the upper edge of the outer fabric layer and an upper edge of the elastic band connected to the upper edge of the inner fabric layer.

A band for a garment, the band comprising:
- a band defining a torso opening configured to encircle a torso of a wearer, the band having a first circumferential edge and a second circumferential edge opposite and spaced apart from the first circumferential edge, wherein the band comprises at least one band portion and each of the at least one band portion includes
- a first fabric layer extending between the first circumferential edge of the band and the second circumferential edge of the band, the first fabric layer having a first edge along the first circumferential edge of the band, a second edge opposite the first edge of the first fabric layer and along the second circumferential edge of the band, a first surface of the first fabric layer defining an inside surface of the band and being configured to face a body of the wearer, and a second surface of the first fabric layer opposite the first surface of the first fabric layer;
- and
- an elastic band having a first edge, a second edge opposite the first edge, the first edge of the elastic band being connected to the first edge of the first fabric layer along the first circumferential edge of the band, the elastic band including an exposed elastic band portion, the exposed elastic band portion extending between the first circumferential edge of the band and the second edge of the elastic band, and defining a first outside surface portion of the band, with a second outside surface portion of the band extending from the second edge of the elastic band to the second circumferential edge of the band;
- wherein the first circumferential edge of the band and the second circumferential edge of the band are separated by the exposed elastic band portion and the adjacent exposed fabric portion, wherein each of the first circumferential edge, the second circumferential edge, the exposed elastic band portion, and the exposed fabric portion extend around a full circumference of the band and are configured to encircle the torso of the wearer.

- a first garment portion configured to cover a region of a torso of a wearer, and
- a band defining a torso opening configured to encircle a torso of a wearer, the band having a first circumferential edge and a second circumferential edge opposite and spaced apart from the first circumferential edge,
- wherein the first garment portion connects to the band along the second circumferential edge of the band, and
- wherein the band comprises at least one band portion and each of the at least one band portion includes
- a first fabric layer extending between the first circumferential edge of the band and the second circumferential edge of the band, the first fabric layer having a first edge along the first circumferential edge of the band, a second edge opposite the first edge of the first fabric layer and along the second circumferential edge of the band, a first surface of the first fabric layer defining an inside surface of the band and being configured to face a body of the wearer, and a second surface of the first fabric layer opposite the first surface of the first fabric layer;

- an elastic band having a first edge, a second edge opposite the first edge, the first edge of the elastic band being connected to the first edge of the first fabric layer along the first circumferential edge of the band, the elastic band including an exposed elastic band portion, the exposed elastic band portion extending between the first circumferential edge of the band and the second edge of the elastic band, and defining a first outside surface portion of the band, with a second outside surface portion of the band extending from the second edge of the elastic band to the second circumferential edge of the band;
- wherein the first circumferential edge of the band and the second circumferential edge of the band are separated by the exposed elastic band portion and the adjacent exposed fabric portion, wherein each of the first circumferential edge, the second circumferential edge, the exposed elastic band portion, and the exposed fabric portion extend around a full circumference of the band and are configured to encircle the torso of the wearer
