Methods of a dual active protocol stack (daps) handover of a ue between a serving cell and a target cell in a non-terrestrial network

An apparatus comprising memory coupled to a processor, the processor configured to:

• receive, from a user equipment (UE), a UE capability including a count of different target network devices in one or more different target cells for which the UE supports simultaneous measurements within a synchronization signal block measurement and timing configuration (SMTC), and whether the UE supports measurements in parallel with an uplink (UL) transmission, a downlink (DL) transmission, or a radio resource management (RRM) measurement operation of the UE on a serving cell in which a serving network device of the UE is located and one or more different target cells in which one or more target network devices are located;
• and
• in accordance with the received UE capability, configure a dual active protocol stack (DAPS) handover of the UE between the serving network device and the one or more target network devices.
